Mack Hollins of the University of North Carolina discusses his barefoot lifestyle and non-vegetarian diet

Mack Hollins, a former North Carolina wide receiver, is having the finest season of his NFL career, having already set career highs in grabs (17) and receiving yards (221 yards) through five games with the Las Vegas Raiders. With more output comes increased media exposure, and Hollins has taken full advantage by revealing his unique and colorful nature during a recent interview on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football.

Hollins arrived in the studio barefoot, revealing that he never wears shoes until absolutely necessary.

“I’d be better [if I didn’t wear shoes],” Hollins added. “In the offseason, I just play with no shoes on. I wore cleats maybe eight times before OTAs.”

The former Tar Heel sprinter claims he began wearing barefoot after missing the whole 2019 season with the Philadelphia Eagles due to a groin ailment.

“I got wounded in Philadelphia and missed the entire year,” Hollins explained. “I eventually tracked down these Australians and flew them to Philadelphia to work on me. They do barefoot things and all that holistic stuff that brings you back to where you began. It all started there. It’s natural to go about barefoot. If it feels correct, it probably is.”

Hollins eliminated a certain food type from his diet after discovering his physique with the advice of his Australian buddies.

“I don’t eat veggies anymore because it’s wrong,” Hollins said. “I only eat veggies on Sunday because I want to be famished; on game day, I am vegan because, as a great coach once remarked, ‘hungry dogs run faster.'”
