After being barred for alleged “abusive” behavior toward the workers at New York City eatery Balthazar, James Corden has apologized to the owner.

According to owner Keith McNally, the Late Late Show presenter “apologised profusely.”

Keith posted a photo of the comedian on Instagram with the caption: “James Corden just called me and apologized profusely. Having [expletive] up myself more than most people, I strongly believe in second chances. So if James Corden lets me host his Late Late Show for nine months, I’ll immediately rescind his ban from Balthazar.”

“But… someone gracious enough to apologize to a slacker like me (and my crew) does not deserve to be barred from anyplace.” Balthazar in particular. So, Jimmy Corden, Jimmy Corden, come back to the 5 & Dime. Everything has been forgiven. Xx.”

The post comes after the restaurateur called the broadcaster a “tiny cretin of a guy” for allegedly mistreating the workers.

Keith revealed on Instagram on Monday that James had been banned. “James Corden is a tremendously talented comedian, but a small Cretin of a guy, and the most rude client to my Balthazar staff since the restaurant began 25 years ago,” he wrote.

“I don’t typically 86 a client, but I 86’d Corden today, and it didn’t make me chuckle [sic].”

He then gave two examples of “the funny man’s abuse of my personnel.” He alleged that the 44-year-old was “nasty” to the manager in June after discovering a hair in his dish. In October, Keith told the server that James was “mean” after complaining over “a tiny bit of egg white” in his wife’s egg yolk omelette.
