An Amazon delivery driver was discovered dead following an apparent dog attack

According to the Ray County sheriff, an Amazon delivery driver was found dead after an apparent animal attack Monday in Missouri, and deputies shot and killed two aggressive dogs.

Sheriff Ray Childers said deputies were called to a home in Excelsior Springs, a town of about 10,000 people, around 7 p.m. after neighbors reported an Amazon van had been parked there for several hours.

According to him, a man’s body and two highly aggressive dogs were discovered in a yard. The animals were shot and killed by deputies.

The identity of the man was not immediately revealed.

The cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner, according to Childers, but the victim’s injuries were consistent with being attacked by an animal.

The owners of the house were not at home, and it appears they are out of town, according to Childers.

Amazon spokesperson Lisa Levandowski expressed the company’s condolences.

“We are deeply saddened by tonight’s tragic incident involving a member of our Amazon family and will be assisting the team and the driver’s loved ones,” the company said “According to Levandowski. “We are assisting the police in their investigation.”

According to NBC affiliate KSHB in Kansas City, the dogs were a German shepherd and an English mastiff.

Excelsior Springs is located approximately 25 miles northeast of Kansas City, Missouri.
