A well-known solo mountaineer who specialized in free climbing without ropes or other safety measures passed away after plunging 100 meters to his death from an icy peak’s edge.
Mountaineer and skilled rescue worker Jonaz Hainz, 25, passed away after climbing an icy peak and tumbling from the side.
On October 28, while he was climbing the Monte Magro in the Italian region of South Tyrol, the tragedy occurred.
Local media said that the teenage mountaineer chose to ascend the 3,273-meter glacial peak alone before dying in the fatal fall.
When Jonas did not appear again after sundown, worried family members subsequently filed a missing person’s report.
The following day, at roughly 2,400 meters, his body was discovered. This came after the young man fell 100 meters and died as a result.
The 25-year-old was seen climbing the “Moulin Rouge” mountain peak in Roda di Vael, Italy, free solo last month. Together with a man named Oswald Celva, his mountaineering father, Christoph Hainz, first “free soloed” the summit.
According to a touching statement from the Bergrettung Bruneck EO rescue team, Jonas will be missed by his coworkers. The organization is made up of volunteers that search the area for lost or hurt hikers and mountain climbers.
The organization stated, “Unfortunately, we must say farewell to our colleague and friend Jonas Hainz, who suffered a deadly fall while engaging in one of his loves at Monte Magro.
“Your inherent delight and we shall miss you.
“We offer the family our sincere sympathies.”
