Eva Mendes discusses her decision to take a break from acting after being offered “Sh—-y” roles

Eva Mendes is talking openly about her choice to stop acting for the past ten years.

The 48-year-old actress recently responded to a comment on Instagram by claiming that she never stopped acting and that she is now explaining why she hasn’t appeared in any movies in almost ten years.

In an interview with Fitzy & Wippa on an Australian radio show a few weeks ago, Eva discussed what would encourage her to resume acting.

“Yeah, yeah, I was just, you know, for a wonderful job… The children were so young that I had to take time off to be with them. They are now six years old, and our oldest just turned eight.

However, it’s also because—dare I use a derogatory term? I was tired of accepting the really terrible roles that were being offered to me, Eva stated.

I was sick of it, you know what, it’s not worth it, she continued. If I’m going to be gone for a few months, it better be something that’s damn good, you know.

Eva was questioned about reading the subpar screenplays and whether or not a script ever contains one page that completely changes her opinion of the project.

There is occasionally a page. When a character is first introduced, do you understand what I mean? Sometimes it’s just a page, but I always try to give it my best effort. However, sometimes halfway through, you just think, “I’ll never, I’ll never accomplish this,” she remarked.
