A man is charged with kidnapping his ex-girlfriend over a lottery ticket

After reportedly kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and attempting to fight off police officers who tried to apprehend him, a man from Tennessee is now facing a number of accusations.

Dontrell Hanes, 43, was unhappy because his ex-girlfriend never delivered him the lottery ticket he claimed to have purchased, according to court documents seen by WREG.

She wouldn’t let him in, so Hanes showed up to her house and broke down the door. He then dragged the unnamed woman to his car after assaulting her.

She told police that “at first, he was basically choking me and dragging me out of the house.”

The woman was then driven about by Hanes for almost seven hours. He threatened her with a weapon and demanded $10,000 at that point.

“He said that was it, and I truly believed I was about to pass away. He lacked motivation to live, “She spoke. “I kept asking, “Why do you have to take me with you?” for this reason. I’m not ready to pass away.”

Hanes eventually gave the woman permission to call her daughter on her phone. Deputies were then able to locate Hanes at a gas station because to the ability to trace her phone. He remained in his car when the police arrived. He resisted the four deputies’ attempts to remove him by force, hitting one in the face and chest and kicking another in the leg.

Hanes was arrested and is now being held on more than 15 offenses, including domestic abuse, aggravated kidnapping, and assault on a first responder. He has a $250,000 bond and is being detained in custody.
