Verizon may not have yet released the April update for its Google Pixel 6 line, but that hasn’t stopped the company from regularly rolling out updates to its other premium handsets, including all of the Samsung models. All of the foldable devices have recently received upgrades from Verizon and Samsung, along with what may be the final update for the Galaxy S10 series.
We’re looking at updates for the April Android security patch for the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Z Flip 4. Other than that, Verizon claims that the update includes “performance improvements” for the Fold, but there aren’t really any other noticeable updates.
In essence, Verizon is proposing that switching to their network from a another North American carrier will “automatically” bring in network settings and experiences. That thought seems strange to me because that is basically how this has operated for more years than I can recall. For a very, very long time, Samsung (and the majority of other device manufacturers) supplied to the US a single device that functions across all carriers, making SIM changing simple. We’re perplexed unless Verizon is hiding something else along with the BYOD announcement.
