The Newest Skin-Care Trend, “Skin Streaming,” Is Worth Trying

Skin-care trends from the past few years alone could fill the entire Darcy College Library. There always seems to be something new on the horizon, from skin flooding and “skinimalism” to “status” skin. While there is no shortage of trends to try, it can be challenging to determine which ones are best for your needs and skin type.

The most recent trend that is currently making a lot of noise is “skin streaming,” which focuses on streamlining (yep, “streamlining”) your routine. We believe it will be completely worthwhile trying, especially if you have sensitive skin. It’s not as extreme as the caveman regimen and infinitely simpler than skin cycling. We speak with general and cosmetic dermatologist Kunal Malik, MD, in the following.

Skin Streaming: What Is It?
Simply put, consolidating tasks into one routine will increase productivity. Skin streaming, according to Dr. Malik, is a trend that involves streamlining skin care to use fewer products that efficiently meet multiple needs rather than a drawer full of products with a single purpose.

It’s a way to eliminate steps that aren’t necessary to make sure your routine is enduring and successful. Replace ingredients without established skin benefits with high-quality, straightforward steps, advises Dr. Russak.

What Advantages Does Skin Streaming Offer?
Fewer, more effective products are more likely to be absorbed by your skin and to actually be beneficial, according to Dr. Malik. “When applied in excess, multiple beauty products may not even penetrate the skin completely or become diluted upon layering.” By skin streaming, you can avoid combining incompatible products and avoiding irritation. Additionally, it’s a way to save both time and money.

How to Skin Stream
The way you skin stream will depend on your specific needs and goals, but there are a few simple steps you can follow.

1. Stick to the Basics. Sticking to the basics like cleansing, moisturising, and sun protection is a good way to begin streamlining your routine. “Oftentimes, toning, exfoliating, or applying multiple serums can be skipped,” Dr. Malik says, adding, “The fewer products you put on your face, the lower the risk of your skin getting irritated, as some combinations of products can disrupt your skin barrier.”

2. Choose Products With Multiple Benefits. Adding multitasking products into your routine that have more than one benefit eliminates the drawer full (or multiple drawers full) of products that aren’t really necessary. For example, choose a moisturiser that also contains SPF or a serum that includes peptides as well as hyaluronic acid and vitamin C.

3. Look at Ingredients Carefully. Dr. Malik says he always recommends gentle and effective ingredients that won’t irritate the skin or cause unnecessary reactions and to skip out on anything you’re unsure about. Consult with your doctor or dermatologist about what would work best for you, or do your own research regarding ingredients and how they might affect your skin to ensure you’re only using the products that are absolutely necessary.
