Coldplay performs an Iranian protest song that the Islamic Republic has BANNED at their sold-out Buenos Aires gig in support of protesters.

At their sold-out concert in Argentina, Coldplay showed their solidarity for Iranian protesters by performing a banned song from the country.

At their Buenos Aires concert, the band performed ‘Baraye,’ which has become the song of the Iranian protest movement.

Golshifteh Farahani, an exiled Iranian actress who has been barred from returning to Iran since acting in an American film in 2009, sang the Farsi song with the band.

Protests have been ongoing for nearly a month following the murder of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman who died in jail on September 16 after being tortured by Iranian morality police for not properly wearing a headscarf.

Amini was initially detained in Tehran for allegedly violating Iran’s severe dress regulations for women based on Islamic Sharia law.

‘We’d like to do something to say that we support all the ladies and everyone fighting for freedom in Iran,’ vocalist Chris Martin told the crowd of 72,000.

The event was televised live in 80 countries and was seen in over 3,400 cinemas, which was one of the reasons the band wanted to make a statement.
