A man from New Jersey was enjoying a nature trail in a local park when he stumbled across something that made him call the police!
NJ.com reported that the man, who lives in Wayne, New Jersey, found booby traps along the trail – and that the trial is a popular one in the area.
The booby traps were crudely made from barbed wire, nails, boards, and broken bottles.
It was clear the intent of the homemade devices was to inflict a good deal of harm to another person.
The man called the police after finding several of the devices scattered along the High Mountain Park Preserve trail.
Wayne Police Captain Laurence Martin said that this report was the first of its kind. To the Hackensack Daily Voice, Martin said the department was actively investigating the report.
Martin continued by saying the man had found some wooden boards hidden just under the dirt on the trail.
The boards had screws and nails sticking up, and broken bottles were found near rocks and logs.
The man also found a rope and barbed wire strung just above the ground over across the hiking trail.
Martin said that the boards were designed to injure people or disable a bicycle tire.
The way the wire was strung across the path could have caused serious injury or even death!
The Wayne Police are asking for people to be on the lookout for the traps and if they see any they should call them!
