The sex sequences in Olivia Wilde’s most recent movie, Don’t Worry Darling, are discussed.
The thriller’s director and actor, Wilde, said that the sex scenes between Florence Pugh and Harry Styles, as well as the publicity they garnered, overshadowed the real movie.
The 38-year-old filmmaker expressed her annoyance in an interview for ELLE’s 2022 Women in Hollywood edition. Florence very rightly pointed out that a lot of attention has been devoted to the sex scenes, which is why it’s intriguing, remarked Wilde.
The actress remarked, “And I believe she’s really correct,” to ELLE. “I wholeheartedly concur with her that it’s overshadowing everything else that the movie’s about, which is so fascinatingly paradoxical since one of the functions of sex in Victory [the fictitious setting where the movie takes place] is as a technique of diversion,” the speaker said.
The Booksmart director remarked, “I was very delighted that Florence mentioned that because I feel the same way. This film is so much wider and greater than just the sex scenes.
The discussion of the rumored ongoing conflict between Wilde and Pugh, the movie’s leading woman, also seemed to touch that topic.
Wilde echoed Pugh’s remarks to ELLE over the film’s extensive advertising campaign. Pugh is 26 years old.
She remarked, “It is astonishing to see so many lies about myself peddled as reality. We didn’t sign up for a reality show, Florence said, which was a pretty sage observation.
“And I love that she phrased it that way, because it seems like the general public believes that if you’re producing something that you’re selling to the public, you’ve accepted that your life will be ripped apart by a pack of wolves,” Wilde said. “Actually, that is not included in the job description, so no. not ever.”
According to Wilde, “[Florence] is] so gracious in her performance in every moment.” She improves the lives of others around her.
