Sunshine Coast-based We the Riders is a growing mountain bike clothing company. Aussies who are passionate about their country use WTR items everywhere, from small-town trail rides to the World Cup circuit. WTR was founded in 2017.
They are one of several local brands that are emerging in the garment market, and they can be recognized by their timeless logo and informal designs.
But don’t let the casual branding fool you; WTR is making products of extraordinarily high quality in a highly competitive market. Up until recently, I was unaware of them, but the debut of their new Slayer pants piqued my interest and that of other pant-duro converts.
I was curious to see how the WTR trousers compared after having the pleasure of reviewing a variety of trail pants earlier this year.
FEATURES
I could already tell the WTR Slayer pants had a high-quality weight and feel when I took them out of their biodegradable packaging. The polyester and spandex fabric itself is surprisingly elastic, and the knees are strengthened by an additional layer.
Elastic panels are present on the ankles and the rear of the waist, and the closing consists of a plastic ratchet and a zip. On each side of the hip, there are two fairly deep pockets with YKK zips, and the inside of each thigh has a few tiny laser-cut air vents.
